The Three Sisters

Local Aborigine legend tells two stories to explain how this rock formation got its name, but both agree that these stone columns are three local sisters who were transformed to stone to protect them from harm. In the first legend they were transformed by a witchdoctor who was killed during the battle from which they were to be protected; in the second their father used a magic bone to protect them from a bunyip, transforming himself into a lyrebird to escape, losing the bone in his flight.

The rain came, we jumped back into the car and headed east back to Sydney.
